Medical Oversight

Last updated: June 28, 2026

Avono Health is a digital health platform that helps adults access telehealth services for select wellness and prescription treatment categories. Avono works with CareValidate to support the telehealth experience, including medical intake, provider review, patient communications, and pharmacy coordination.

Medical care is provided by independent U.S.-licensed clinicians. Avono does not practice medicine, diagnose or treat medical conditions, prescribe medications, dispense medications, or control the independent medical judgment of any clinician.

How clinical review works

Every request for prescription treatment begins with a medical intake. A licensed clinician reviews the health information submitted by the patient and determines whether treatment is clinically appropriate based on the patient's health history, goals, current medications, allergies, contraindications, state requirements, and other relevant clinical factors.

Completing an intake form, choosing a treatment, or placing a payment method on file does not guarantee approval, treatment, or a prescription. A clinician may approve treatment, decline treatment, request additional information, require a video visit, recommend lab testing, or direct the patient to seek in-person care.

Medical team

Avono's telehealth experience is supported by CareValidate and independent clinical partners. Medical services may be provided by Lion MD, a nationwide medical team led by Dr. Ana Lisa Carr, MD (NPI: 1689841744) and Dr. Kelly Tenbrink, MD (NPI: 1346482684). Provider availability, state licensure, and clinical requirements may vary by state and service. Additional clinicians may be added to Avono's network.

Clinicians are responsible for medical decision-making. Their decisions are based on the information available to them, applicable professional standards, state law, and their independent clinical judgment.

Prescription treatments

Prescription treatments are available only when a licensed clinician determines that treatment is medically appropriate. Avono does not guarantee that any patient will qualify for a specific medication, dosage, formulation, or treatment plan.

Patients should provide complete and accurate health information during intake and follow all instructions provided by their clinician and pharmacy. Patients should also continue routine medical care with their primary care provider or other healthcare professionals as appropriate.

Weight management treatments

Prescription weight management treatments, including GLP-1 medications, require clinical review and are intended only for patients who meet appropriate medical criteria. These treatments are not cosmetic products, and results vary by patient. Avono does not promise a specific amount of weight loss, a specific timeframe for results, or that treatment will be appropriate for every patient.

Sexual health treatments

Sexual health services are intended to address health-related concerns and are reviewed by licensed clinicians for medical appropriateness. Avono does not promote adult sexual services, sexual arousal products, or non-medical sexual enhancement. Any prescription treatment is available only when clinically appropriate.

Pharmacy fulfillment

When a prescription is issued, it is sent to a licensed U.S. pharmacy for fulfillment. Pharmacy selection may depend on the treatment, patient location, state requirements, medication availability, clinician direction, and pharmacy requirements.

Avono's current pharmacy-provider network includes:

  • Belmar Pharmacy: Phone: 800-525-9473 | belmarpharmasolutions.com
  • Strive Pharmacy: Phone: 855-405-5993 | strivepharmacy.com
  • Epi Scripts: Phone: 833-654-3553 | episcripts.com
  • Casa Pharma Rx: Phone: 877-937-6868 | casapharmarx.com
  • Other pharmacies may be added to Avono's network.

Compounded medications

Some treatments may involve compounded medications when permitted by law and determined appropriate by a licensed clinician. Compounded medications are prepared by licensed pharmacies for individual patients, but they are not FDA-approved and are not reviewed by the FDA for safety, effectiveness, or quality before dispensing.

Avono does not claim that compounded medications are the same as, or interchangeable with, any FDA-approved medication. Patients should review all medication information, warnings, instructions, and pharmacy materials before starting treatment.

Age and eligibility

Avono services are intended for adults 18 years of age and older. Not every service or treatment is available in every state. Not every medication is appropriate for every patient. A clinician may determine that treatment through Avono is not appropriate based on a patient's medical history, current medications, health status, pregnancy or breastfeeding status, lab results, state requirements, or other clinical factors.

Ongoing communication and follow-up

Patients may be able to communicate with the clinical team through secure messaging or other telehealth tools made available through the platform. Clinicians may request follow-up information to support safe and appropriate care. Patients should promptly report side effects, adverse reactions, medication questions, or changes in health status to their clinician.

Emergencies and in-person care

Avono is not for emergencies and is not a replacement for emergency medical care. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 or seek immediate medical attention.

Telehealth may not be appropriate for every medical situation. A clinician may recommend in-person care, urgent care, emergency care, lab testing, or follow-up with another healthcare professional when clinically appropriate.

Avono's role

Avono provides technology, administrative, marketing, and support services. Medical care is provided by independent licensed clinicians. Pharmacy services are provided by licensed pharmacies. Avono does not interfere with the independent medical judgment of clinicians or the professional judgment of pharmacies.

Patients should also review Avono's Telehealth Medical Consent, Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, and any treatment-specific safety information provided during the intake, clinical review, prescribing, and pharmacy fulfillment process.
